A friend/client asked me to help him look for something he could use to edit his own site. It was designed in DreamWeaver. So I have been searching on the web for alternatives.

I am familiar with Adobe Contribute. which costs  about $100. I have tested it and another friend/client has been using it on his website for about 3 years. The only problem he ever had was when his laptop crashed and he had to install it again on another laptop and he could not remember his passwords. Luckily, I keep most all old and new passwords in a database.

So back to my search. I have found numerous free programs to use. The only one I have ever tried is Aptana and I do not like that – It takes so long to load that I get frustrated.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I will be adding a number of RSS feeds from the sites I found that discuss DreamWeaver alternatives.
